Below is a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions of Temple Tots administration and staff.
If you have any further questions, please contact us and we’ll gladly answer them!
How do I know if you’ll have a spot available for my child?
Generally, within 3-6 months before you are looking for care for your little one, we will have an idea of availability. When we believe there is a good chance we’ll have a spot, we will contact you and have you in for a tour (if you have not been in already) and/or go over registration papers.
How will I know where my child is on the wait list?
Please feel free to contact us anytime and we would be happy to let you know where you are on the wait list and the chance there would be a space available. There are often changes with families that may be ahead of you so we encourage families to be in contact with us every couple months to confirm their interest in our daycare.
If I have one child at Temple Tots, will I be given priority for any future siblings on the wait list?
As an existing family you will be given priority on our wait list. We do ask that you tell us and go on our wait list the sooner the better to help ensure we have space for your children.
Can I come in for a tour?
Absolutely! We welcome families to come in for tours to meet us, take a look around and see if Temple Tots is the right daycare centre for your child. Booking an appointment is best to make sure we are available the time you come. You can also fill out the contact form on our website to connect with us to book a tour.
What items am I responsible to bring for my child?
We do ask that parents provide all diapers, wipes etc and a couple changes of clothes. We ask you to bring sunscreen and a water bottle for your child. We ask that you bring outdoor appropriate clothing and foot wear.
What does a typical day look like for my child?
Depending on the time your child starts we start off with open activities in the class rooms, have snack, outside/gross motor experiences, lunch, rest time offered, more outside/gross motor experiences and open class room activities. We have group and individual learning that happens throughout the day.
Does Temple Tots accept children on Child Care Fee Subsidies?
Yes Temple Tots accepts all children on Child care Fee subsidies.
Do you offer part time daycare?
We do offer part-time care. Our part-time is 1-4 full days/week based on availability. We do not offer half day rates. You are welcome to bring your child for half a day however will still be required to pay for the full day. We also have full-time which is 5 days/week.
What time can I drop off and pick up my child?
Temple Tots is open from 7:30am to 5:30pm. You are welcome to bring your child anytime during these hours. We do recommend them to be here 9 hours or less for their benefit. We understand there are circumstances they may need to be here longer days though and we work with families in these situations.
Who is allowed to pick up my child?
We have you update your profile in our Procare app with all the names of people who you allow to pick up your child. We will ask for photo identification if we have not met them, if someone comes and they are not on the list we do not release your child to them. We ask that the children are signed in and out each day by who drops off and picks them up.
How do payments work?
All payments can be made by e-transfer to billing@templetots.ca
Are fees still required when my child is not there due to illness or vacation?
Fees will still apply for all absences; “vacation days” will not be offered at this time.
How much notice do I need to give when we no longer need daycare?
We ask that families give us 30 days or more written notice to withdraw your child and this is stated in the Parent Policy Handbook which you will sign when you enrol.
Do I need to provide food for my child?
We provide a daily morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. In the infant room we give the parents a food checklist to make sure we only give children food they have already tried at home. Some infant families do bring food from home as they are transitioning.
What if my child has an allergy or a food restriction to a specific food?
We definitely accommodate any food allergies/food restrictions. We ask that you sign a form here at the daycare and we will discuss alternate foods we can offer or if you bring food from home.
What is Temple Tots Policy on Immunizations?
We work with the London Health unit and meet all their requirements. However if you have reasons for exemptions we work with you and just help ensure all paper work is complete for this.
What are the qualifications/requirements for staff members?
In each classroom we have 1 or 2 staff that have their Early Childhood Education (ECE) and are registered with the College of ECE’s. This meets Ministry of Education requirements. Our staff all have First Aid/CPR Training and have a current criminal check/vulnerable sector check.
Do you go outside in all weather conditions?
We aim to maximize the times we can go outside. During the winter and summer we have guidelines we do not go outside when the weather is not appropriate. We are in contact with the weather network to ensure we go out only in safe conditions.
Where does my child have their rest/nap and what if they do not nap?
In the infant room the children have their naps in a crib in a designated space where an educator is with them. In the other rooms we have little cots with a sheet and a blanket for them and the educator stays with them. If they no longer have naps they do have a quiet time then we have an awake room they can go to with an educator.
